CLARE'S 4 STAR REVIEW
The Forgotten Commander the first instalment in this new series by K Webster and Nicole Blanchard, it is a good story with a solid foundation to build upon. I've read a few Sci-Fi romances before and have always enjoyed them very much, so I was excited to read about Breccan who is a Mort and the commander of a team of alpha men, they are the only survivors of the desolate planet Mortuus. To survive and thrive they need females to be able to mate with. They happen upon a ship containing cryogenically frozen humans and take five females to wake up and reproduce with. Aria is woken up first and becomes Breccans mate, only he gets so much more than he was expecting as Aria is no submissive and he soon finds that she is a sassy strong willed woman with ideas and wants of her own. The story was kind of predictable, a little corny at times and had a bit of an insta love theme going on unless you classed it as stockholm syndrome, it all depends on how you look at it. Having said all that and I say this with my eyes rolling I did really enjoy the story, it didn't really blow me away by any means but it was kind of heartwarming and sweet reading about the men trying to survive one minute then the next they are falling over themselves to make Aria and the other females life as comfortable as possible. It was an interesting read that had plenty of background that could be expanded into a multi book universe but I would have liked a little more action and adventure within this story to make it the perfect Sci-Fi read. |
