War of Hearts (Storm MC Reloaded, #2)War of Hearts by Nina Levine
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

3.5 stars!
After the very long wait for this book to be released, the anticipation was at an all time high, I so love Nina's storytelling normally, and I so hate saying this but it just didn't live up to the expectations I had. Yes I liked it as far as a MC romance goes but after recently reading Winter and Birdies story in Hurricane Hearts I felt there were a few too many similar things going on, not necessarily the same but with elements of the same kind of theme. It was a bit unimaginative and after waiting so long it was kind of a disappointment, I don't know maybe if i'd never read the previous book in this series I wouldn't have felt this way.
As always with this author the writing was good and it flowed well, it's just it's plotline and content that left me wanting this book to be so much more.

The Body Painter (Master of Trickery Duet, #1)The Body Painter by Pepper Winters
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

3.5 stars!
This was a story that I had many expectations for and the anticipation of what I would find between the pages was great, and as far as a Pepper Winters story goes, this book did fulfill some of those expectations I had but not all, so I need to tell you why this book just didn't hit the 5 star mark for me.
Firstly, the story is quite angsty and full of drama which did keep me reading but then after a while it all started to become a little bit repetitive, with Gil telling Olin to go away and not come back every other paragraph to then turn around and change his mind each paragraph in between, it started to grate on my nerves. The same thing happens with Olin keep not taking notice of him and then she starts feeling like he needs to commit to her or she is going to stay away when he's been telling her all along to stay away. It did kind of drive me a little nuts.
Secondly, I found that the story became easy to guess where it was heading and it lost a little of it's quality, I am used to being kept on the edge by this author's work and it just didn't happen.
Thirdly, not much really happens in this book apart from a reunion, Gil and Olin going over and over the same thing and a cliffhanger secret reveal which as I said before I guessed halfway through the book.
I am invested enough in this story to want to read the next book in this duet, as I am hoping all the questions I need answering will be revealed. The story has a great idea behind it but it just needed to be written without going over the same ground as much as it did.

Finally in Focus by Naomi Springthorp

Genre: Contemporary Romance

I've never taken any risks or left anything to chance.

I do what's expected of me. Make the safe choice. Go with the sensible option.

Kade is none of those things. He's a crush from my past. I should leave him with my high school memories.

I've wanted him since senior ditch day. His artistic passion glows from his eyes. His hands are masculine, yet exude creativity. He's burned into my head even though I haven't said a word to him in a decade.

I'm surprised by the electricity in his touch when I bump into him.

Is he what I need?

There's nothing logical about love.

Midnight's Redemption (A Paranormal Romance Vampire Werewolf Hybrid Series) - The Cynn Cruors Bloodline Series, Book 9Midnight's Redemption (A Paranormal Romance Vampire Werewolf Hybrid Series) - The Cynn Cruors Bloodline Series, Book 9 by Isobelle Cate
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Midnight's Redemption was such an intense read. Jasmine Angelico is a blind woman who lost her sight after she was the lone survivor when her family were murdered ten years ago by a gang of evil Scatha Cruor. Mackenzie (Mack) Butler is a man in limbo, he's no longer a Scatha Cruor but neither is he fully a Cynn Cruor warrior again. Mack rescues Jasmine and her dog Mutt just in time when the Scatha come looking for her as their leader has some unfinished business with her, she fully believes in the beginning that she is being kidnapped by him until she finally realises that there is so much more goodness than bad in the man who came to her aid.
This story was such a total rush to read as we see it's characters have such a very intense relationship form between them, both physical and personality wise, they not only fight with each other to let their feelings be shown they verbally spar with each other too, this only helps to cause the sparks that ignite between them even more. While they are on the run from the Scatha that are hunting Jasmine it not only adds to the angst and danger they are in, it gives them the time together to discover what the strange feeling that happens between them everytime that they touch.
This book had thrills and drama at every page turn and kept me wanting to read right until the end. This is a great addition to an already great series. Isobelle Cate writes paranormal with such flare and imagination.

Discretion (The Dumonts, #1)Discretion by Karina Halle
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I have loved almost every book that I have previously read by this author but this book just didn't live up to the expectation and excitement I was so looking for. The story had all the basics that made for a great romantic suspense novel but it just didn't live up its blurb and description, for me it fell a little flat of its full potential. Olivier Dumont is from a rich well known family that own a fashion label and hotels in France. The Dumonts consist of Olivier his father, his sister, his uncle and his two cousins. Olivier runs the hotel side of their family dynasty while the others run the fashion label. There is a underlying sense of ruthless greed and want from the uncle and cousins that does become very clear in the story, but as for the excuse that is used to have total control over Olivier (as they have a secret hold over him) I felt it to be a little weak to say the least and made the story feel a bit out of date for a modern day romance.
Nevertheless I did really like the parts where the love story that blossoms between Olivier Dumont wealthy hotelier and Sadie Reynolds a young poor American student. They first meet when he comes to her aid in her time of need and it does become quite an intense read as their holiday romance becomes something more. It felt like all good fairytale stories where the prince rescues the damsel in distress. I absolutely felt their connection with each other so that I could engage with their emotions and feel all the hurt and distress that they both go through to do with their relationship but still it was not enough to make think that the villains of this book were believable.
This was just an ok read for me and I was so hoping for something more from this author.
