OMG where do I start with this book!!! I've had the pleasure of reading one of CJ's books before but that was nothing compared to what I found within the pages of this book. This is an amazing story that I can only compare to the likes of the This Man Trilogy or the Crossfire series. Hunter Donovan is a god amongst men, with his handsome good looks his dirty blonde hair and a dirty mouth to make a saint blush. He is a total man-whore that sleeps with women only once or twice and then moves onto his next conquest which he is never in short supply of with women practically throwing themselves at his feet and so he has slept with most of the female staff mainly skinny blondes who work for Havershams the company he is a director of. Coco Barella is a curvy brunette and nothing like Hunter's usual type but with her smart mouth and clip retorts she gives back at him when he propositions her for sex Hunter can't resist her and finds himself with new challenge when Coco refuses him. The story is filled with lots of love hate moments with Hunter trying to wear Coco down to sleep with him and then when she finally gives in she starts to believe that he wants something more from her but every time she does he treats her badly and pushes her away. He is a character that you can't help but love because he is so kind and caring with plenty of charm and at times he's every girl's dream. In the looks department alone he has it all and with a bit of a bad boy reputation who could resist him but deep down you know there is a reason for him being the complete and utter idiot that he is towards Coco and you keep cheerleading him on and willing him to open up and let her in to his heart. Coco is a great character with lots of depth and I warmed to her easily. She is a strong and stubborn woman and must have an almost iron cast will to keep Hunter at bay for so long because ladies i'd have given in to him on day one of his pursuit! She also has a deep and caring side to put up with Hunter and his bad behaviour and for not giving up on him for such a long time because she knows that someone must have hurt him badly to make him the way he is. The story is very emotionally charged throughout and you can't help being drawn into it, I laughed, I screamed out loud and I cried as I read it and it takes a lot to make me do all that from a book. The writing is flawless and I had a hard time putting this book down because it was so late at night and had to wait to finish it the next morning. This book deserves every one of it's 5 stars and more. |
