Ariel was going home with me tonight. I thought I’d lose my damn mind watching her walk, bend, smile — or basically do anything. I never messed up during a show, and I screwed up… twice. Just the guys noticed, but they would give me enough shit about it to last an eternity, no doubt.

One chick got a little too close to the stage, expressing what she could do for me during a break between songs. I guess I was a little too harsh in what I said, or how I said it, maybe even in the way I looked at her. I don’t know, and I don’t really care. Sean and Travis were both saying different things, but basically, I knew I needed to be professional and just learn to deal with things differently. It just pissed me off, since I felt like some of these fan girls were now disrespecting Ariel. It was a new emotion I wasn’t handling very well, but I would work on it.

I slid my guitar off, adjusted the mic, and sat down on the stool. I tapped my foot impatiently. I removed my hat, wiped the little sweat from my forehead, and placed it back on my head. It was hot as hell on stage tonight. My eyes remained on Ariel; I’d known where she was at all times throughout the night. Travis switched over to the electric guitar and nodded at me. I looked over my shoulder at Sean, and he started us into “Someday” by Hinder. I gripped the mic and poured everything I had into it, watching Ariel the entire time. I closed my eyes toward the end and finished the song without looking out into the audience. Once I opened them, the prettiest green eyes I’d ever seen were staring straight back at me.

Ariel blew me a kiss as she sat three water bottles on the edge of the stage for us and turned to walk away.

Without allowing my brain to think twice, I spoke. “Hey, baby! I hate to see you go, but I love to watch you walk away.”

People laughed. Men cheered. I glanced around the room and realized my mistake. I’d said those words right into the microphone. Ariel’s fault.

I winced and looked back to my angel, whose hand was now resting on her hip, sexily, I might add.She was also staring daggers at me, through me, I wasn’t sure. I smiled; it didn’t work. I smiled harder still… It didn’t work. I mouthed “I love you.” Nothing!

Shit!

Ariel walked back over to where she’d left the drinks. She seemed to hold everyone’s attention. She motioned for Sean and Travis to come closer. They listened, of course. Ariel handed both of them their drinks and dropped her arm to the side, holding what I assumed was mine.

“Turn around,” she said to me.

“What?”

She smiled sweetly, but her eyes had narrowed just a bit. “Turn around, Romeo.”

So what is a guy supposed to do? I turned my ass around on the stool and faced the opposite direction. Everyone laughed louder.

A few seconds passed. “You can turn around now, dude,” Sean said.

“What the hell?” I said, while they both kept laughing.

Travis took a long pull from his water. “You couldn’t watch her walk away, could you?”

Clever.

“Shut the hell up! Where’s my water?”

“She took it. It’s so good too, man,” Travis said, taking an exaggerated drink.

“Mother—“

“Easy, killer, mic might be on,” Sean said. They both laughed harder.

“Sean, get your ass back on the drums so I can finish this set and punish my girl.”

“From where I’m standing, looks like you might be the one getting punished, bro.”

I turned around and saw Ariel smiling as she drank from the water bottle that was supposed to be mine. My mind tried thinking of all the ways I could and would torture her. Only one thing that came to my mind… spanking that fantastic ass of hers.

Gina Sevani was born and raised in beautiful South Carolina. She learned quickly that she had mad love for reading romance, paranormal and everything in between.
One night, as she was trying to fall asleep fictional characters popped into her head and would not leave. Day after day she was running dialogue and creating stories while trying to perform daily tasks. Those amazing characters wanted to be heard.
As time passed, she kept them at bay convinced she didn’t have the ability to be an “Author”. But late one night, she sat down at the computer, deciding to see if her characters could come to life on the pages. When she finally took a deep breath, thousands of words filled the pages. Those incredible words gave her the courage she needed. They lead to both of her novels, Beautifully Damaged and Beautifully Devoted.
